As a proudly Māori-owned business, we’re dedicated to sustainability, community, and innovative aquaculture. First established in 1968 and now guided by Tangata Whenua, we’re honoured to share the long-standing tradition of oyster farming with visitors and locals alike.
At Tio Ōhiwa, our oysters are raised with genuine care, ensuring only the finest-quality kai reaches your plate (provided they make it home without being eaten on the way!). Our journey is a meaningful hikoi, bringing people together through delicious food and the unmistakable taste of fresh oysters. Alongside our oyster harvests, we also serve a tempting selection of seafood, burgers, and hearty meals.
Located just 1 km south of Ōhope, our waterfront spot is the perfect place to relax, enjoy great kai, and take in the stunning views across Ōhiwa Harbour. From our deck, you can watch the oyster beds thriving in their natural environment. The Shop has proudly served the community since 1968, offering some of the best seafood and takeaway classics you’ll find in the region.
